External factors that affect hair
Washing and styling can nourish hair and scalp - but they can also damage them. Washing your hair frequently can cause your scalp to dry out and lead to irritation, especially if the water is too hot, your shampoo is too aggressive, or you use alcohol-containing hair lotions, styling gels, or styling sprays that attack skin and hair.
The water temperature should be no higher than 35°C, while shampoos generally only need to be applied once and should then be washed out thoroughly after being given a few moments to work. Shampoo only needs to be applied twice if your hair is very dirty.
Perms and dyes put a huge amount of stress on the hair’s structure and can irritate the scalp. They should therefore not be used at the same time if at all possible. After perming or dying your hair, you should use a mild, nourishing shampoo, preferably for dry or damaged hair.
