For more sustainability and environmental protection: Sebapharma saves 335 tons of wood

Production of leaflets for sebamed products stopped. A QR code on the packaging now informs consumers about product characteristics and sustainability.

Boppard/Cologne, September 2022.

Sebapharma, a leading manufacturer in medicinal skin cleansing and skincare and known through the sebamed brand name, has been successively stopping the production of all product leaflets since the start of this year. Omitting the leaflets provides a lasting contribution to saving resources: It saves paper and printing ink for 7.6 million product leaflets per year – equivalent to around 335 tons of wood.

“We now use QR code technology for additional product information. Customers can scan the code on the packaging with their mobile phone to quickly and easily access more information about the product. In addition to this, QR code technology even allows us to tailor current campaigns or special news to a specific country or to make changes at short notice,” Udo Klüwer, Head of Global Marketing, describes another advantage of the recently introduced QR code communication. The medicinal skincare brand sebamed with a pH of 5.5 is available in over 100 countries worldwide.

In Germany, the QR code leading to additional product information can already be found on the majority of sebamed products, including on the boxes of sebamed Anti-Hairloss Shampoo. Consumers can now also obtain up-to-date information about the sustainability actions of Sebapharma digitally.
